New Employee Onboarding Program

This online curriculum portion, delivered through the SOIL HUB Learning Management System (LMS), is one part of the broader New Employee Onboarding Program. This digital component provides flexible, self‑paced learning that prepares employees with essential knowledge while complementing the in‑person and hands‑on elements of the full onboarding experience.

Designed to support new hires as they settle into their roles within North Carolina’s conservation partnership, the online curriculum includes four introductory modules:

1. Getting Started

This module provides new employees with a foundational overview of their first steps, including orientation materials, initial tasks, and key tools they will rely on. It echoes the early‑stage guidance laid out throughout the onboarding proposal and welcome materials.

2. Understanding the Partnership in North Carolina

Employees receive a clear explanation of how Soil & Water Conservation Districts, the Division, NRCS, and statewide partners work together. This module supports the broader introductory content outlined in onboarding presentations and documents, giving employees a clearer picture of their role in the statewide conservation network.

3. Building Your Network

The LMS guides new hires in identifying key contacts — district staff, regional specialists, partner agency representatives, and mentors. Discussion prompts and engagement spaces encourage new employees to begin forming relationships that support their long‑term success, reinforcing the networking emphasis across onboarding materials.

4. Resources

This module helps employees locate tools, reference documents, training links, and ongoing support materials. The LMS acts as a centralized home base where new hires can return as their knowledge grows and questions arise, aligning with the resource lists present in draft program documents and welcome communications.

Built‑In Engagement: Chat & Discussion Tools

The LMS includes features that allow new employees to connect, ask questions, exchange ideas, and participate in group discussions. These interactive spaces make it easier for new hires to learn from peers, access guidance from program facilitators, and build community from day one — supporting the team‑oriented focus highlighted throughout your program drafts.
